Founded in January 2009, SambaFunk! is a great dance fitness, wellness, cultural experience. Combining cultural elements from Africa, Brasil and the Americas, SambaFunk! uses music and dance to bridge cultural gaps while creating a healthy and safe place of cultural creativity. As the name itself implies, SambaFunk! is part Brasilian and part African American. It’s a cultural fusion of African Diaspora expression.
A brainchild of Carnaval King Theo Aytchan Williams, SambaFunk! has thrived with the support of many and excelled through the consistent contributions of Funkquarians: Andre Preston, Alberto Rossetti, Damari Lawrence, Damon Rowden, Halima Madhee, Jesus Martinez, Katherine Carter, Kijahre Filkiri, Monica Hastings- Smith, Omari Weaver, Ric Alexander, Suzi Cruz, Sinclair Savage, Wendy Ellen Cochran, to name a few.
